The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has launched a new Online Advertisement Application Portal, a major step in the organisation’s ongoing digital transformation efforts.

The launch event, held at the T.C. Corquaye Conference Room in the FDA offices, brought together members of the FDA’s Executive Committee, management, directors, partners, and stakeholders.

The new portal is designed to streamline the process of submitting, reviewing, and approving advertisements for FDA-regulated products, marking a significant improvement in service delivery.

Speaking at the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Dr. Delese Darko emphasised that the platform aims to enhance convenience, transparency, and accessibility, allowing customers to submit advertisements, make payments, and receive approvals without physical visits.

“This is a momentous occasion for us,” the FDA representative said in the welcome address. “The launch of this platform reflects our commitment to innovation, efficiency, and customer-centricity. It’s a leap forward in how we interact, engage, and serve our stakeholders.”

The FDA’s mandate under the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851), includes the regulation of product advertisements. The new portal is expected to significantly simplify this process, providing a clear and traceable record of all transactions and communications. This move is aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in the advertising process for all stakeholders.

The development of the portal was made possible through the collaboration with Proper-Alliance, an affiliate of the AFCTA Network Hub, and other key partners. The FDA extended its gratitude to all those involved in making the project a reality.

As the FDA continues to adapt to the evolving needs of the industry, the organization expressed its commitment to further improvements. The new portal is just one of many initiatives aimed at creating a safe, transparent, and efficient regulatory environment in Ghana.

The FDA encourages all stakeholders to embrace the new platform and join in the collective effort to maintain the highest standards of product quality and safety across the country.
