The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) is seeking to attract huge volumes of investments into the three regions of the North within the short to medium term.

As a result, the Centre has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA). The agreement will among others see the GIPC market the investment projects developed by SADA to available investors.

SADA in turn, will work to attract funding and provide information to inform investor decisions. Speaking to Citi Business News on the development, the CEO of the GIPC, Yofi Grant was hopeful the initiative will help turnaround the fortunes of the three regions of the North regarding investments there.

“The agreement prescribes the partnership agreement with SADA and how we can actualize it; the MoU also enhances the partnership that we have…It looks like SADA is investment ready and that GIPC could just bring in investors and pluck them in to the opportunities up North.”

“We are actually contemplating of doing a Northern region specific investment conference to highlight the opportunities that are there to show how they could be quickly facilitated and how they could add to the transformation agenda,” Mr. Yofi Grant asserted.

Commenting on the importance for his outfit, the CEO of SADA, Mr. Charles Abugre maintained that, “It is an exciting time for the SADA region; Ghana and the SADA region are rich, viable investment destinations that provide dynamic yet stable business opportunities for investors looking to enter the West African market.”

The MoU lays out plans for SADA to develop a one-stop information platform that will provide expanded, in depth local support and up-to-date information to investors keen to explore investment possibilities on offer in the area.

The region’s arable land suitable for agriculture and agro-processing is high on the list for promotion and investment, and there are opportunities in providing supporting infrastructure and services.
